A common question for first-time visitors to Ibiza is recommendations of things to do in Ibiza summer 2017 that would make their holiday totally unforgettable. Aside from enjoying al-fresco dining and lounging around the pool in your fab Ibiza villa of course. You know you can even get a pop-up bartender in your villa too, right? We’re not saying it’s gonna be easy to leave the comfort zone. But hey, you ARE in Ibiza, and there’s a myriad of reasons to get up off that sun lounger every now and then 😉
The truth is, with a seemingly endless array of amazing stuff to do on the White Isle, it is difficult to know where to start. So, your trusty Ibiza Villa’s 2000 team set to work asking their valued guests what their favourite things to do in Ibiza might be.
Ladies and gents, we humbly present the Ibiza Villas 2000 guide to 10 brilliant things to do in Ibiza summer 2017.
1. A day trip to Formentera
A day trip to Formentera could just as easily be called a day trip to Paradise.
Ibiza’s tiny sister island is breathtakingly beautiful. Her beaches are often compared to those in the Caribbean and with good reason. Think soft, white sand. Think sparkling, crystal blue seas and you’re part way there.
You might want to hire a bicycle or a car and explore the gorgeousness of Formentera. Or you might want to cast off your clothes and have yourself the ultimate relaxing day on one of her beautiful, secluded beaches.
Whatever you decide, a day trip to Formentera is a guaranteed tonic for the soul.
2. Wine tasting and vineyard tours
Ever since the Phoenicians first arrived on Ibiza back in the 7th century, wine has always been made here. The island’s climate and soil is perfect for growing the grapes that eventually become top-notch vino.
For something a little different during your Ibiza holiday, several of our guests recommended booking a tour of one of the island’s vineyards. Loads of fascinating information to be gleaned and, of course, plenty of wine tasting and often food on offer.
3. Ibiza Yacht Charter
Nothing quite like your very own Ibiza yacht charter for the perfect relaxing day. Imagine sailing on the sparkling Mediterranean with your nearest and dearest. Soaking up those glorious sunny rays as you explore the stunning coastline of Ibiza. Bliss!
Our friends at Boats Ibiza often have amazing deals on Ibiza yacht charters. Check it out. We think you’ll be surprised at just how affordable a day of luxury can be.
4. Visit a hippy market
No visit to Ibiza would be complete without visiting one of the famed hippy markets.
There are several of them all over the island, but for a true, authentic experience, these two legends are the ones to go to.
The original and largest, Es Cana Hippy Market, is open every Wednesday from 10.00 – 18.00 hrs during summer. There are 500 stalls selling all manner of wares so you will want to take your wallet! Live music, drumming and street performances all add to the buzzing atmosphere here. Flower-Power at its best!
Las Dalias Hippy Market in San Carlos is another firm favourite. With 200 stalls, great food and drinks available, and a lovely, relaxed vibe, this is a perfect way to spend a Saturday in Ibiza.
5. Benirras Sunday Drumming Ritual
Still on the hippy theme, the Benirras Sunday drumming ritual is likely to be the highlight of any holiday.
It is impossible not to feel completely at peace with the world as the island’s drummers come together to create an atmosphere that is both chilled and tribal at the same time.
Hugely popular with people of all ages and creeds, we definitely recommend you putting the Benirras Sunday drumming ritual high up on your things to do in Ibiza summer 2017 list.
6. Watch a sunset on San Antonio’s Sunset Strip
San Antonio sometimes gets a bad rap, but when it comes to sunsets, this is the place you want to be.
The famous San Antonio Sunset Strip is packed with cool bars, such as Mambo, Cafe del Mar and Savannah. Relax with a drink, listening to wicked tunes as you watch the sun do his spectacular nightly performance, sinking in a kaleidoscope of colours, gracefully into the sea.
Words cannot do it justice. This is one you have to experience first-hand.
7. Explore Dalt Vila at night
The walled fortress of Dalt Vila in Ibiza Town is a glorious maze of cobbled streets shrouded in history and character.
The steep streets make it a tad overbearing to explore during the heat of an Ibiza summer day, but an evening stroll? Well now, that’s a different story.
Shops, bars and restaurants mingle with traditional white-washed houses, often complete with washing flapping over the balconies to create a bustling and cheerful atmosphere. And one of our fav restaurants, El Portalón, is right there. Yum.
Style, culture, art, history, views…Dalt Vila has got it all going on.
8. Eat, eat, eat!
It appears that Ibiza Villas 2000 guests have one thing in common. They all like a good nosh-up…and who can blame them? Ibiza, after all, has no shortage of wonderful restaurants to suit every palate and budget.
But where to start when it comes to recommending where to eat? We decided to hand this one over to our guest blogger, DJ and resident foodie, Mr Tim Sheridan. Check out laid back Kumharas, fabulous Babylon Beach or take a peek at jazzy Villa Mercedes.
9. A day out at Pikes Hotel
So why, we hear you ask, would you want to spend at day at Pikes Hotel?
Well, you can hang out by the pool all day, sipping cocktails and listening to cool tunes. If it’s good enough for Freddie Mercury, George Michael and Kylie Minogue, it’s good enough for you! Then party on into the evening with a range of fantastic events and world-class DJs. You can even sing Karaoke in the bathtub with the legendary Sunny Razman.
A true slice of Ibiza decadence with its tongue firmly in its cheek.
10. Pool party at Ibiza Rocks
Ah, the phenomenal pool parties at Ibiza Rocks, including such legends as Craig David, We are Rockstars and the Elrow pool party.
It’s really no surprise this made the top ten. And even better, Ibiza Villa 2000 guests can enjoy exclusive guest lists and reductions at some of Ibiza Rocks’ coolest parties.
