The lovely crew at Smart Charter celebrated the opening of their swanky new premises in Ibiza Town with a truly fabulous Grand Opening party last week. And as our Official boat charter partners, the Ibiza Villas 2000 team were there to slap them on the back and raise a few glasses of champagne to their success. Well, maybe more than a few…!
The Captain of the Smart Charter crew is Charlie Veale, a dear friend of the Ibiza Villas 2000 family, who we have watched in fascination as his one man / one boat business has grown to a fleet of twenty of the finest speedboats, yachts and sailing boats you’ll see on the waters of Ibiza.
When we turned up to the launch party on an unusually grey and rainy Friday night, (the sort of weather that would normally keep the Ibiza masses indoors,) we were impressed to see that this event had already garnered a visit from the Guardia Civil for the roadblock of traffic trying to park on their way to the party! The crowds had turned up in force to support Charlie and his partner Alessandra in this impressive new era for their business.
The celebratory atmosphere was at high voltage inside, with Ibiza Global Radio broadcasting live from the event and DJ’s Sarah Main, Dazzla and Tom Pool on the decks. The cava and sangria was continually topped up, accompanied by gorgeous platters of local meats and cheese plus a mouth-watering barbecue being served up by Cook Ibiza on the terrace.
The new Smart Charter premises house the company offices and serves as a glossy showroom to their phenomenal fleet of boats for rent – or to buy, if you happen to have a few hundred grand knocking about! There is also a huge workshop manned by a team of mechanics with the space to service up to twenty boats at a time. With cava in hand, we wandered through the packed showroom, lusting after the range of incredible sea vessels on display, plus an array of ‘water toys’ such as Jetskis, Seabobs, kayaks and SUP boards, all of which can be rented along with your boat charter.
The vibrant Smart Charter crew supporting Charlie and Alessandra, all kitted out in Captain’s hats, were on hand to talk about the boats, and the business, with infectious enthusiasm that added to the excitement of this special launch night.
Without doubt, Smart Charter have made their mark as one of the youngest, coolest boat charter brands in Ibiza and we were thrilled to be there, to wish them every success for what is clearly going to be an incredible season for this accomplished and ambitious team.
