New Year in Ibiza is something else!

New Year celebrations in Ibiza are split into two halves – New Years Eve and New Years Day. Some people decide to make New Years Eve their night of celebration,  while others decide to stay in or mark the event quietly with a handful of friends on New Years Eve and save themselves for New Years day. The very brave decide to do both! So, what are people saving themselves for on New Years Day? The answer is DC10. The famous club opens its doors every January 1st for its legendary New Years Day party – it feels like the Vatican opening its doors to the wonderful Ibiza residents to come and worship through dance! Again this year, it seemed like the whole island had turned up to welcome in 2016. True to form, DC10 went crazy, and the venue was absolutely jammed packed with island folk dancing from first thing in the morning until the early hours the following day. There is nothing quite like this event anywhere else in the world – it really is unique.

All the fun starts on New Years Eve, with private parties and fireworks across the island, then everyone heads off to either Pacha or Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes Hotel. Pikes is fast becoming the ‘go to’ party place for New Years Eve and this year was no exception. Pikes was full with revelers at an absolutely phenomenal party hosted by the fabulous Melon Bomb crew, who are firm favourites on the island. The party was at full voltage until the wee small hours, at which point many pulled out the white flag and went home to watch New Years Day TV, while the really hard-core party people set off for DC10.

Ibiza is fast becoming renowned for its Xmas and New Years celebrations and we suspect that in years to come these fantastic winter parties will start to rival some of the biggest days of the summer.
